Embothrium coccineum – Chilean Fire Bush
Flowering in May and June this desirable garden treasure is surely the Plant of the Month for May.
Covered in scarlet red flowers it was planted in the 1960’s and is now nearly 30 feet high. It grows in the woodland part of the garden just up the track from the Handkerchief tree, both in flower now. It is a native to the Andes of South America and is ideally sited when growing in a sheltered border or woodland clearing.
